Building a workplace which just keeps getting better, with interpersonal relationships based on trust and on direct and transparent dialogue, where listening is key; it was with this goal in mind that Magneti Marelli called upon a leading organization, the Great Place to Work Institute, to develop a “people satisfaction survey” at the end of 2011. The survey was conducted among staff and workers of all the 12 business lines in 19 countries, involving over 85% (28,259 people) of the company population around the world. There were approximately 18,300 replies to the survey, with a response rate of 65%, while the 78% response rate of the online version came extremely close to the rate obtained by the top 25 great places to work in the world. Results were published locally and helped pinpoint strengths as well as areas of improvement within the company. The consecutive step was to involve employees in team-working activities on local action plans in order to build together the “great place to work”.
