For the fifth year in a row, Magneti Marelli continues its commitment to CESVI (“Cooperazione e Sviluppo”, or cooperation and development, an Italian humanitarian organization that works for international solidarity) in favour of educational and socio-economic development activities.
Through the years, the company’s support has been aimed at young people living in the poorest parts of the world, in order to provide the know-how and tangible tools with which new generations can independently build their future.
Magneti Marelli has funded enterprise creation projects in Lima and training activities in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
Today, the company collaborates with CESVI in providing support to three educational centres set up by CESVI in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Each centre is managed by a local organization.
In 2012, 48 orphans found a home in the centres, 840 students received educational support, and 60 young people were involved in vocational training activities to help them enter the workplace.
The company’s support will continue in 2013 so to ensure the functioning of the three facilities, specifically providing funds to cover personnel costs, canteen services and scholastic material.
