On 16 October World Food Day is being celebrated, arranged by the FAO, the United Nations Organisation for Food and Agriculture, to commemorate the anniversary of its foundation on 16 October 1945.
This year's theme is “Family farming: Feeding the world, caring for the earth”, chosen to enhance the work of small farmers and their contribution to global food security.
Family farms, in fact, in addition to being the dominant form of agriculture in both developed and developing countries, are the custodians of traditional food production and contribute to a balanced diet, protecting agricultural biodiversity and taking care of the natural resources.
Magneti Marelli is also participating in the celebration of World Food Day through awareness-raising and communication activities: posters located in all worldwide offices, news on the intranet portal and a celebratory video aired on internal corporate TV offer useful advice on how to support family farming, by choosing to purchase local, regional or national products.
