The World Water Day, established in 1992 by the United Nations to promote the responsible use of water resources, will be celebrated once again this year on 22nd March.
This year’s initiative invites governments, companies, organizations and citizens to contribute to the social dialogue on problems tied to the relationship between water and energy. In fact, an in-depth analysis of the synergies between these two elements aims at stimulating the identification of “good practices” indicated as the most effective solutions in order to reduce inequalities and ensure access to drinking water, hygiene-healthcare services and energy to all those who live in the poorest regions of the planet, through a more effective management of water resources.
Magneti Marelli participates in this initiative through an awareness and information campaign aimed at employees throughout the world on efficient water management in production processes. The company’s constant commitment in this direction is proven by the performance related to water use in the manufacturing plants throughout the world which, from 2010 to 2013, decreased by 25 % thanks to the development of projects such as the storage of water that would have been otherwise eliminated, its consequent filtering and reuse in the production process.
Magneti Marelli also participates in the initiative by offering tips and advice, through its intranet portal, bulletin boards located in common areas and the corporate TV, on how to use water in a responsible way every day.
