The Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting plant of Penang received the “Prime Minister Hibiscus” award for special projects in renewable resources (bronze level) for practices and procedures aimed to the reuse of materials and the environmental protection. Initiatives run follow the World Class Manufacturing methodology.
Environmental projects have been assessed by a Technical Committee through a written questionnaire, a plant visit and direct interviews with relevant personnel.
The “Prime Minister Hibiscus”, first launched in 1996, is the premier private sector environmental award for business and industry in Malaysia and, beyond recognizing companies’ commitment, promotes and stimulates the sharing of best environmental sustainability practices.
The Award is endorsed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Malaysia and supported by the Department of Environment.
This Award is jointly organized by four of Malaysia’s leading private sector non-profit organizations concerned with corporate environmental management and performance: Business Council for Sustainable Development in Malaysia (BCSDM), Environmental Management & Research Association of Malaysia (ENSEARCH), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI).
