TabsOur historyThe Magneti Marelli Historical ArchiveTHE MAGNETI MARELLI HISTORICAL ARCHIVE The project for the Magneti Marelli Historical Archive began in 2008, and it originated from the awareness of the great value possessed by the historical industrial heritage generated by Magneti Marelli in over 90 years of history. The addition of the Historical Archive to the perimeter of institutional communication activities confirms and strengthens Magneti Marelli’s interest in enhancing the value of its historical heritage, intended as a value that still lives on, emphasizing its relevance in terms of the Company’s image even to this day. The historical materials found in the Archive are constantly being added to, and they cover a period from the end of the nineteenth century until the year 2000. The collection currently consists of an archive of images and communications with 20,000 images, 500 videos and over 2,000 documents such as company magazines, brochures, advertisements and press reviews; a technical archive with more than 1,000 documents such as product catalogues, manuals and technical drawings; a personnel archive with employee registers, minutes of the shareholders’ meetings, and financial statements. The new location of the Magneti Marelli Historical Archive was inaugurated on 7th March 2011. The facility was designed to satisfy the need to protect the collected materials, so that it can be used in a place that can be accessed by visitors where Magneti Marelli’s history and various essences can be illustrated. The Archive also includes a significant selection of products (magnets, coils, control units, sparkplugs, headlights, carburettors, etc.) and historical measuring instruments tied to Magneti Marelli and to its historical trademarks. There is also a particularly suggestive presentation of about 80 instrument panels, from the 1920s until today, most of them still working and displayed through a set that allows all of them to be turned on at the same time. MissionMissionMISSION The mission of the Magneti Marelli Historical Archive is the collection, preservation and value enhancement of the historical memory of Magneti Marelli and of the brands that it incorporates today, historical names in the international automotive history such as Weber and Solex in the field of engine control and fuel supply, Veglia Borletti and Jaeger in the production of instrument panels, and Carello and Siem in the lighting sector. Hence, it becomes a corporate opportunity and a commitment of social responsibility to encourage the preservation and knowledge of this significant historical memory, whose transmission allows one to observe over time the technological and innovative vocation that has distinguished Magneti Marelli at all times and in all business sectors, not only in the automotive area, which today is the main focus, but also in telecommunications, infrastructures, and research in the field of radio and television communications. ActivitiesActivities and awardsACTIVITIES AND AWARDS Of the main activities carried out by the Magneti Marelli Historical Archive, particularly worthy of mention is the search and recovery of historical materials associated with the company, the preservation and display of the exhibits, the careful handling of contacts and of public relations, the set up of ad hoc displays and the running of guided tours.
