Volvo to start its production activity in India
Volvo has announced that it has started production in India at the Bangalore plant, run by the Truck division.
The operations started with the XC90 SUV, which will soon be joined to the assembly shifts by the S90 sedan and the other XC60 SUV.
An important step forward for the Swedish carmaker in the emerging Asian market, especially to compete with the premium German rivals Audi, BMW and Mercedes that have long been operating with their plants in the country.
Volvo's goal is to reach a 10% market share in the local premium segment by 2020.
