Volkswagen and Hamburg extend strategic mobility partnership
The strategic mobility partnership between the Volkswagen Group and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is to be extended.
The focus lies on support for e-mobility, innovative mobility services, intelligent transport networking and the use of self-driving vehicles.
The aim is to bring about a lasting improvement in inner city quality of life through innovative mobility solutions. In concrete terms, this means that under the second phase of the partnership, WeShare is to be launched in Hamburg, following on from its successful premier in Berlin.
The WeShare rollout is scheduled for spring 2020. The fleet will comprise over 1,000 e-Golf and e-up! During the course of next year, they will be joined by the first all-electric ID.3 models.
As in Berlin, WeShare in Hamburg will operate based on a free-floating system – in other words, there are no fixed collection points, in order to offer customers maximum flexibility and availability.
