Volvo's historic breakthrough: from 2019 all models will have an electric motor
Volvo announces one of the most important developments in its glorious history. Starting from 2019 all cars of the Swedish carmaker will be electrified, as anticipated by President Hakan Samuelsson, with the consequent progressive elimination of internal combustion engine vehicles.
"People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs."
In two years, we'll see Volvo electric, hybrid plug-in and hybrid versions on the road, as well as with the mild-hybrid solution, and between 2019 and 2021 the manufacturer will launch five electric models, three of which Volvo and two of the Polestar Independent and sports division.
Volvo's goal is to sell up to 1 million electrified cars by 2025.
