Volkswagen unveils first 3 models under entry-level Jetta subbrand for chinese market
Volkswagen brand introduced the first three products to be marketed in China under the entry-level Jetta subbrand.
The vehicles are the VS5 compact crossover, the VS7 slightly bigger and the VA3 three-box compact sedan.
The three models were designed at Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, and will be assembled at chinese FAW-VW’s plant in Chengdu.
The VS5, which was developed on VW’s MQB vehicle platform, will go on sale in China sometime in the third quarter. The two other models will be launched later.
The Jetta subbrand will have its own distribution network. FAW-VW plans to open more than 200 stores under Jetta by year end.
Jetta is expected to capture market share in the entry-level segment, where 80 percent of customers are first-time car buyers, Volkswagen said.
