Volkswagen R Division produced the 200 thousandth unit
The Executive Director of the Volkswagen R division, Jost Capito, has announced that the company active since 2002 (when the Golf R32 debuted) has cut the milestone of 200 thousand units produced.
The milestone unit, a Golf R with the Performance Pack, was delivered to a British customer at a ceremony held at the Robinsons Volkswagen Peterborough.
Known as Volkswagen Individual when it was founded, the division changed its name to Volkswagen R in 2011 with the R letter going for Racing.
After the Golf R32, Volkswagen R has assembled during these 16 years also Passat R36, Touareg R50, Scirocco R, Golf R Cabrio and Golf R station wagon models.
