Volkswagen Group to increase production in South Africa
The Volkswagen Group aims to increase production rates in South Africa to 133 thousand units in 2018 compared to 110 thousand assembled last year.
The sixth generation of the Polo, just launched in the country, will be the main factor in pushing the productive growth of the German giant in the emerging African market.
The vast majority of vehicles built in South Africa will be exported. The Volkswagen Group expects that the full capacity of the factory in Uitenhage will be reached at the end of 2019 with 160 thousand units.
