Volkswagen brand establishes new big Sub-Saharan Africa region
The Volkswagen brand led the expansionist project in Africa by creating the region called Sub-Saharian Africa, which will complement the other major global regions of North America, South America and China.
Leading the division will be the Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group South Africa, Thomas Schäfer, who will take care of the development and the distribution network of the 49 countries that make up the new region (about 920 million inhabitants).
Volkswagen is already active in the African continent on the South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya markets and it is preparing to debut in Rwanda with an integrated mobility strategy. According to VW, Africa has a huge potential for growth in the near future.
