Volkswagen anticipates the lines of the Golf VIII with the first teaser
Volkswagen has released the first official teaser of the eighth generation of Golf, the longest best-selling car in Europe.
The new model will be launched in the second part of 2019, perhaps at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it will represent a real generational leap in terms of digitization and connectivity, also introducing new engines with reduced consumption and opening the doors to electrification.
In addition to the first and only (for now) image of the Golf VIII released by the German carmaker, a short video published on a Facebook page also circulates online, where you can see the car engaged in pre-production tests on the roads of South Africa, from which seems that the design has been renewed especially in the front compared to the current version.
A different cut of the headlights designed to follow the features of the new Polo, thinned and completed by a full-width band between the edge of the engine bonnet and grille that includes a new grill that would seem to derive from that of the Touareg.
Although in the absence of official confirmation it is not certain that this is the new Golf and by the few and confusing images it is difficult to guess the veracity of what was stated by the authors of the film.
On the other hand, the wide-ranging program intended for the entire brand is the official one, which will therefore also include the future Golf which provides for the rationalization and simplification of the offer.
Increased efficiency to better exploit resources, reduce costs and simplify supply lines from providers.
So the Golf VIII will offer 40% less options for alloy wheels and 60% less variants on the type of steering wheel offered.
The optimization will also affect the composition of the offer, which will be less complex, with the engine-transmission variants that in their mix these will be reduced by -25%, as well as the arrangements.
