Toyota to begin battery production in Thailand in 2020
Toyota has officially chosen Thailand as the production base for the batteries that will equip the future electrified cars of the brand.
The assembly operations, thanks also to the support of local authorities, will start in 2020 in the vicinity of the Chachoengsao factory, east of Bangkok, where the Japanese company already builds cars.
Currently, the Primeearth EV Energy subsidiary is responsible for the production of Toyota batteries globally.
The Toyota target is to sell 4.5 million hybrids and plug-ins models annually by 2030.
