Tesla launches new Model 3 mid-range with the lowest cost
Tesla has unexpectedly announced a new version of the Model 3 equipped with a "mid-range" battery pack that will be marketed at 45,000 dollars.
The substantial difference compared to the current version of the car is the lower battery life (420 km against 500). In addition to the lower price.
Tesla had repeatedly announced in the past the basic version of the car, which would be equipped with a standard battery with a price starting at 35,000 dollars.
Instead of that version, the company now offers this Model 3 with a mid-range battery.
Tweeting Tesla founder Elon Musk explained that the model will cost 35,000 dollars net of federal and state tax rebates in California, but the true cost of ownership is close to 31,000 for fuel savings.
Even if the tax incentives will be reduced from next year, it is still a further step towards the less expensive Model 3 announced several times by Musk himself.
