Proton to assemble vehicles in Pakistan
Malaysian carmaker Proton will assemble vehicles in the Pakistani port city of Karachi as part of efforts to expand sales out of Malaysia.
The assembly plant will be built and operated by Alhaj Automotive, Proton’s distributor in Pakistan, with initial investment of $30 million.
It is scheduled to start operation before the end of 2020 and will build Proton-badged vehicles with complete knockdown kits shipped from Malaysia.
The first Proton product to be assembled at the plant will be the Saga compact sedan.
