Piaggio Fast Forward will produce robots for urban mobility in Boston
Piaggio Fast Forward, a subsidiary of the Piaggio Group and representing the most advanced mobility research center of the future, has announced that it will expand its presence in Boston with a new plant that will be added to the Charleston Headquarters.
The new PFF plant will occupy an area of about 1,000 square meters, intended for assembly and production of Gita, which will then be "Designed, and Assembled in Boston".
"Our goal is to create an innovative product, an efficient, high-tech vehicle with more features than just a transport device. And there's no better place than Boston to turn this project into reality," said Michele Colaninno, President of Piaggio Fast Forward.
First of its kind, Gita is a "Follow Me" robot carrier able to carry weights up to 20 kg while following the human operator in indoor and outdoor environments. According to the PFF programs, Gita will be marketed starting from mid-2019.
