Nissan to start European production of the new Leaf in UK
After that for North America in Smyrna, Tennessee, the production of the second generation of the Leaf began also for Europe, at the British Nissan factory in Sunderland.
The car will be available to continental customers from February 2018. The characteristics of the most sold EV in the world are increased autonomy up to almost 380 km on a single charge and the e-Pedal and ProPilot systems for semi-automatic driving.
Leaf has been in production at the Sunderland plant since 2013 and European car sales have already exceeded 85,000 units since 2011 (at that time the Leaf arrived in Europe from the Japanese plant in Oppama).
The British factory also assembles Qashqai, Juke and Infiniti Q30 and QX30. In 2016 the factory celebrated its 30th anniversary and today the production rates have exceeded the threshold of 9 million units.
