Nissan to sell 1 million electric vehicles annually by 2022
Nissan announced the goal of annually selling 1 million electrified cars by March 31, 2023.
The Japanese carmaker wants to respect the increasingly stringent global emissions regulations and plans to cut development costs, as well as consolidating the charging infrastructure network.
In the next five years, therefore, Nissan will launch eight new EV models, four of them for China, and the "green" project will also involve the Infiniti premium brand.
Expanding the program to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, 17 electrified cars will be introduced as part of the strategy to increase global sales volumes from 10.6 million units in 2017 to around 14 million by 2022.
Nissan will also continue to develop systems for future autonomous driving.
