Mercedes to start production of its new A-Class in Rastatt
Mercedes has started production of the fourth generation of the A-Class at the German factory in Rastatt.
The milestone variant was driven around the plant by Mercedes production manager, Markus Schäfer.
The current offer of Mercedes compact models is divided into the same A-Class, B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA, but in the future the range will be expanded to eight models.
That of the compact models will be a global production network, as they will be assembled, in addition to Rastatt, also at the plants in Kecskemét (Hungary), Beijing (through the Beijing Benz joint venture) and Uusikaupunki (Finnish plant managed by partner Valmet Automotive) .
Subsequently it will also be the turn of the Mexican factory in Aguascalientes.
