Kia Stonic will ride the wave of crossover success in Korea
Kia has begun selling the new Stonic in Korea where the crossover will ride the wave of the growing success of SUVs B-segment that in five years has increased sales by five times to 110,000 units.
At the launch of the new model, the Kia President Park Han-Woo announced that Stonic will intercept young Koreans between the ages of 20 and 30 who are eager to have an affordable car with reduced fuel consumptions.
Stonic, which has already been ordered by 1,500 Korean customers, will challenge the SsangYong Tivoli home market, at a rate of about 1,500 units per month.
According to Kia, the new entry will not overwhelm the local sales of the other newly launched SUV, the Hyundai Kona.
