Hyundai Mobis develops software for autonomous driving simulations
Hyundai Mobis, a company of the Hyundai Motor group, has announced that it has started to develop video technologies for autonomous driving simulations based on high-definition software for the development of 3D games.
The technique consists in carrying out autonomous driving tests in various 3D virtual environments used in computer games, in order to improve the accuracy of an autonomous navigation sensor in development.
Using high-definition 3D video, the technology can reproduce different driving scenarios such as complex urban areas, situations of poor visibility such as poorly lit streets at night, with rain or road construction.
Hyundai Mobis research center in Hyderabad, which in 2007 was named "the Silicon Valley in India", is collaborating with Tata Electronics, an Indian software company providing solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), big data and autonomous navigation.
Completion of technology development for autonomous navigation simulations is expected by the end of 2019.
Hyundai Mobis is also developing an automatic recognition and classification system for autonomous driving videos that, using the deep learning technology, will improve the ability of the car's video camera to recognize images that "read", such as road lanes, people, signal lights and signage, like human eyes.
