Harman opens a connection technology development facility in Poland
Harman International has opened a new office in Łódź, Poland, to focus on connected technologies for the automotive, consumer and enterprise sectors.
The facility will house over 350 engineers developing automotive products, including car audio platforms, the Ignite cloud platform for connected services, over-the-air (OTA) software management and mapping services.
Recruitment is ongoing, with the company wishing to leverage local talent from nearby academic institutions.
With this objective, it has signed collaboration agreements with both the University of Łódź (Faculty of Physics and Applied Informations) and Łódź University of Technology (Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering).
Joint research projects are planned, as well as the advancement of education in software engineering for embedded systems, and the hiring of students as interns and permanent employees.
"As we seek to further our culture of innovation within Harman and key growth sectors, we are proud to be expanding our operations in an engineering hotbed like Poland. Harman has been growing quickly in Poland, tripling its number of employees within the past two years, and we expect this new environment, along with the support of top universities, to support further strategic initiatives in the future”, said Sanjay Dhawan, president of connected services and Harman CTO.
