Green light VW for a new cabriolet based on the T-Roc
The Supervisory Board of the Volkswagen Group gave a green light to the project which envisages the development of a cabriolet variant of the compact T-Roc SUV.
An investment of 80 million euros has been announced to adapt the German factory in Osnabruck (where Tiguan and Porsche Cayman are already assembled at a rate of 76 thousand units a year) to the production of the new model from the first half of 2020.
It will be the SUVs (even their derivatives like the T-Roc cabrio) to support the estimated growth in the Volkswagen Group's global sales: by 2020 they will account for 40% of the total. Available in Europe since the end of 2017, the T-Roc has already been ordered by over 40 thousand customers.
