Geely takes orders for its first race car
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, in its latest effort to establish a motorsports presence, has started taking orders for its first race car. It plans to deliver the race car to Chinese customers under the Lynk & Co brand starting in the first quarter of next year.
The vehicle, the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, features a two-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque. It is front-wheel driven, fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox and weighs 1,265 kilograms.
Geely Group formed a motorsports arm in 2018. The unit has dual headquarters - one in the east China city of Hangzhou where the group is based, and the other in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, where its subsidiary Volvo Car is headquartered.
In mid-2018, the unit started developing the Lynk & Co 03 TCR. The race car made its racing debut at the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup in Marrakech, Morocco, in April.
