Geely plan for Proton: make it a top brand in Southeast Asia
Chinese Geely has shown consolidation projects for its Malaysian brand Proton, recently acquired along with a majority stake in Lotus by the Malaysian conglomerate DRB Hicom.
The goal is to position it as a regional brand and bring it to the top in emerging markets in Southeast Asia with new products developed on Geely platforms.
The first fruitful model of the partnership between the two companies will debut in Malaysia by the end of next year.
It will be a C-segment SUV distributed under the Proton brand and based on Geely Boyue SUV with which it will share the same architecture. Following other four cars.
