Ford expands AV testing to Detroit

Through its self-driving development partner Argo AI Ford started to deploy third-generation test vehicles in Detroit.

Detroit is a logical test site. In addition to its proximity to Ford's Dearborn headquarters, the city's roadways, which vary from wide corridors with unmarked lanes to narrow side streets with parked cars, present a unique challenge.

Argo and Ford also tested in Pittsburgh, Miami, Washington and Palo Alto.

«Every city is a unique opportunity to make our self-driving system smarter. The collective knowledge we are gaining by operating in five very different locations for the reason why we're making great progress» said Argo AI president Peter Rander.
