First Tesla Model 3 produced at the Fremont factory
As announced by President Elon Musk, on Friday, Tesla produced the first unit of its new Model 3 EV, the cheapest in the California carmaker range (price in US starting from 35,000 dollars).
The first unit, code-named Serial Number 1, has therefore left the Fremont factory's shifts and it is preparing to face a successful career as witnessed by nearly 400,000 customers who have paid a deposit to get it.
The Serial Number 1 was ordered by Ira Ehrempreis, board member of Tesla who has decided to turn the order's title to the same Musk as a birthday present.
On July 28, the first 30 models of Model 3 will be delivered (they will go to Tesla and SpaceX employees), whose production in Fremont will grow gradually by the end of the year, and then the expected boom in 2018.
