Dealers: great improvement for top dealers
Increasingly defined muscles for large car dealers: the analysis of financial statements shows an increase in the performance of the 50 leading retailers in Italy, with a total turnover of 14 billion over the last year, an increase of 11.1% compared to the 2016.
An increase above the market (last year sales of the new models grew by 7.8%) and an increasing and decisive influence of the big networks in an increasingly polarized post-crisis scenario, which sees 4.4% of entrepreneurs absorb 23% of the total market shares. Furthermore, the average profitability is more than a third higher than that of the sub-fund.
These are the data emerging from the 'Top 50 dealer' survey presented by Quintegia on the occasion of the Automotive Forum in Milan, of which AutolinkNews was Media Partner, which also notes as on the performances of the top dealers the weight of sales of the new models is always decisive (a market tha has a value of 10 billion euros). Even if the assets related to second-hand goods (2.8 billion) and after-sales (1.2 billion) are also rising.
A complex of assets worth an average of 280 million corporate turnover, for 9,200 new cars sold (8,040 in 2016) and around 275 employees.
Overall, the 13,750 employees of the major dealers sold, net of commercial vehicles, 460 thousand new parts, with a particular focus on premium brands: Alfa, Jeep and Mercedes at 32%, Audi and BMW at 30%.
Fiat and Volkswagen always hold the most important brands in the portfolio, with 34%.
The analysis shows that no top dealer still has real coverage at national level, while the presence of international groups is becoming more and more substantial.
Among these is the presence of the American leading group Penske, whose Italian turnover has reached 500 million euros, but also the intense activity of the Porsche Holding group that acquired in the course of 2018 another major retailer, the Bonaldi Motori of Bergamo, and that from October it will take over the leadership of Vicentini, historical dealer of the Volkswagen group in Verona, with over 260 million euros in term of turnover.
