Daimler to make batteries at Mercedes German plant
The Daimler Group has announced that it has signed an agreement with trade unions and workers to produce batteries and other components of electric vehicles at the Mercedes engine factory in Unterturkheim.
The German factory will therefore become the center of expertise for the integration of electric powertrains in addition to the Kamenz and Beijing factories that already assemble batteries.
The latter will equip the range of Mercedes's future zero emission cars under the EQ mark assembled at the Sindelfingen plant. The agreement will also lead to the creation of 250 jobs in Unterturkheim.
