Car of the Year 2019: the 7 finalist models chosen among the 38 cars candidates
The list of the finalists, perhaps the most varied in the last few years, has been defined. The seven car models, that will participate in the final vote for the prestigious "Car of the Year 2019", will be awarded by 60 European specialized journalists, who compose the jury of the competition, next March 4, on the occasion of the day before the opening of the Geneva Motor Show.
The short list, dominated by European models with five of the seven cars built by the Old Continent brands (three of which are French), in fact contains very different types of cars: a sports berlinetta like the Alpine A110, a 100% electric car as the Jaguar I-Pace, two Suv (Citroën C5 Aircross and the same Jaguar I-Pace), two sedans (the compact Ford Focus and the innovative third generation Kia Ceed) and two successful models such as the Mercedes hatchback A-Class and the Peugeot 508 flagship.
The list of the finalists partly reflects the uncertainties of a disoriented motorization market, much influenced by the success of the SUVs, but also in search of the emotions that only sport cars can give.
