BMW to manufacture electric MINI in Oxford
The BMW Group has officially confirmed the rumors of the past few days, announcing that the anticipated first MINI electric, based on the three-door variant, will be produced at the historic British factory in Oxford.
The launch is scheduled for 2019 and the powertrain will be assembled at the German factories of Dingolfing and Landshut.
Under the Strategy Number One - Next plan of the Bavarian Group, the MINI electric will be preceded by the i8 Rodaster and it will be followed in 2020 by the X3 electric version and in 2021 by the iNext zero emission saloon with autonomous driving functions.
In addition, starting from 2020, a new modular platform will be introduced to extend the offer of all-electric models as well.
In 2017 alone, BMW will sell 100,000 electrified vehicles, the same number that has been sold to date.
