The BMW Italia headquarters is electrified
The BMW Italia headquarters in San Donato Milanese is now fully electrified.
The building, designed by Kenzo Tange and inaugurated 20 years ago, was equipped between 2010 and 2012 of a photovoltaic system composed of 750 solar panels covering an area of about 1,200 square meters and it has a peak power of 179 kWp .
All the energy produced by the photovoltaic system goes into self-consumption and represents 6.5% of the needs of the building, while the rest comes from a certified renewable source.
In addition, about 25% of the parking spaces in use by employees were equipped with a charging system for electric cars with 32 Wallbox with 3.7 kW that allow the charging of a BMW i3 in eight working hours and 17 Wallbox with 11 kW that perform the same service in less than a morning.
If necessary, a 50 kW Fast Charging station is also available, allowing to charge an i3 in less than an hour.
