Big jump for EV sales in Korea in Q1
Great first quarter for EV sales in Korea. From January to March, registrations rose to 1,729 units compared to just 193 in the same period last year.
To dominate the scene in the local sector of zero emission cars is the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, which accounted for almost 75% of the total with 1,291 units sold.
Seoul's government is pushing harder to make Korean mobility more eco-sustainable and aiming to have around 820,000 hybrids models in the streets by 2020, as well as 200,000 all-electric vehicles, 50,000 hybrid plug-ins and nearly 10,000 fuel cells.
The authorities are also increasing the network of fast charging stations.
