Alliance and Dongfeng to co-develop electric vehicles in China
The Renault-Nissan Alliance and Dongfeng Motor Group have announced a new joint venture for joint development and distribution of electric vehicles in China.
Named eGT New Energy Automotive, the joint venture will focus on competencies in the two partners industry and will enable the Alliance to strengthen its worldwide leadership among zero emission cars.
The two groups will work in particular on the Renault-Nissan platform for A-segment SUVs.
Participation in the joint venture involves a 50% stake for Dongfeng and 25% each for Renault and Nissan and will be based in Shiyan City, Hubei Province.
The plant will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 units and start-up operations are scheduled for 2019.
