TIME-TO-MARKET and DESIGN-TO-COST

Today, Magneti Marelli possesses a competitive cost structure, from the development phase to the final product, thanks to the focus placed on process efficiency, production globalization and careful procurement strategies; Time-to-Market and Design/Produce-to-Cost consist in the proper sizing of contents, in hardware standardization and in the use of components taken from the Consumer Electronics sector. 

 

OPEN-PLATFORM APPROACH

The open-platform approach ensures a gradual transition from customer-dedicated systems to open systems, and it develops open, modular and scalable platforms capable of housing third-party applications.

 

CONNECTIVITY

HARDWARE

Great focus is placed on materials, microprocessors and storage devices in order to maximize the speed and reliability of the systems, as well as on technologies such as LED displays, in order to improve the customer’s perception, ensuring automotive quality.

 

SOFTWARE

At the software level, attention is focused on the development of automotive platforms based on solid and tested operating systems (Android, Linux, Vxworks, Windows Automotive), even in situations of coexistence (for example, through hypervisor), with the aim of supporting the development of innovative solutions and open platforms, guaranteeing their full reliability.

 

VALIDATION PROCESSES AND MONITORING PROCEDURES:

The other important skills acquired by Magneti Marelli thanks to its longstanding experience and to the many projects featuring high innovative content concern the validation processes, with special focus on hardware and software quality indicators, and the management of the design and process phases according to market-approved standards. Special attention is paid to monitoring procedures of project efficiency indicators (times, costs and quality).
